Those of you in Austin of course are familiar with the details: West Campus frat boy kills and then dismembers his 21 year old former girlfriend in his apartment. Later runs off to Mexico with a former former girlfriend. Convicted a year ago, and sentenced to 55 years.

He's appealing his sentence.

I'm thinking 55 years isn't enough time for what he did - he should never be allowed out of prison as long as he lives. Unfortunately, because he's so young, this could actually make a difference on whether or not he ever sees the light of day as a free man. Hopefully the judge will just book Pitonyak's lawyers out of court.

Only 55 years? He's be like 76, I hate that. That he'll get to live again but the girl won't.

55 years? That's what he gets for going to UT instead of SMU. (Nine years ago, four SMU football players kidnapped and repeatedly gang-raped a sixteen-year-old they grabbed off a Denton motel parking lot, and all four of them got five years' probation because "they have their whole lives ahead of them." It's no wonder that SMU is the only school with the ethical flexibility to take the George W. Bush Presidential Library.)
